MORGAN COOPERATIVE BROOK TROUT HATCHERY
In 1991 the VTFWCG rebuilt the abandoned Morgan Hatchery with the help of many volunteers, donated materials, and a $10,000 grant from Fish America.  The hatchery is operated cooperatively with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, who provide eggs, food, and technical assistance.  Day-to-day operations, maintenance, and stocking of the fish are the responsibility of the Group.  We have stocked more than 100,000 brook trout fry annually from this hatchery since 1993.

GREEN MOUNTAIN CONSERVATION CAMP SPONSORSHIPS
Each year the VTFWCG offers sponsorships to local youths attending the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department’s Green Mountain Conservation Camps.  The program’s mission is to educate youth about Vermont's natural resources.  Students learn about fish and wildlife conservation, forestry, orienteering, swimming, canoeing, fishing, gun safety, and more in an attractive outdoor setting.  Since 1989 the VTFWCG has helped pay the way for nearly 200 youths to attend the camps.

CLYDE RIVER LANDLOCKED SALMON RESTORATION
The VTFWCG is actively working with Great Bay Hydro and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department to restore the salmon fishery in the Clyde River and Lake Memphremagog.  Recently, this has involved assistance with operation of the fish ladder at the Newport powerhouse and instigating regulation changes to better protect the resource during these restoration efforts.

WILD TROUT INITIATIVE
Begun in 2007 primarily to evaluate the effectiveness of our Morgan Hatchery stocking program, the initiative looks to protect and enhance native and wild brook trout fisheries.  The VTFWCG believes that native or wild brook trout fisheries are an invaluable natural resource, and that maintaining them is the most cost-effective and sustainable means of fisheries management.

GUN-A-MONTH RAFFLE
The VTFWCG raffles off one gun each month.  Only 300 tickets are sold for each 12-month period, and each ticket can potentially be drawn multiple times.  The program has been a successful fundraiser since its inception in 2007.  Tickets cost $30, and are generally available by early December.  Drawings begin in April of each year.
